Overview

After configuring the reporting stages, you can create your milestone plan template (basically your project schedule template) by modifying the provided sample template. You can also clone a milestone plan from an existing template, or edit an existing milestone plan by removing or adding milestones.



Add New Template and Add Milestones

To add a new template, select the Template Name dropdown, click on Add New Plan Template and provide the name of the new template. To rename a template, select a template and click on the icon next to the dropdown. Add milestones to the template by clicking on Add Milestone in the top menu. A popup screen will appear. Choose the milestones you want to add. Search for and add milestones by checking the checkboxes before each of the milestones. If a certain milestone type is not available, click on New Milestone Type.

 


Once all the required milestones are selected, click on the OK button, and the milestones will get added to you plan template. 

 

The Planning Tag

The planning tag can be used to categorize milestones. In the milestone screen you can click on the dropdown and filter data based on the planning tag.



Repositioning Milestones

To reposition the order of the milestone, select a milestone and move it up or down. To delete a milestone, click on delete milestone(s).





To edit an existing milestone type, to rename or change the planning tag or assign a different functional group, click on Edit Milestone.

 


Once all the milestones are added and repositioned, you must map at least one milestone to each of the reporting stages. Only then will the status of the template become active.


 

Now you can update the duration of each milestone, and optionally, you can update the predecessor and successor milestones. Remember to click the save changes button on top right corner whenever you made changes.


You can also set one of the milestone plan templates as default by checking the Is Default checkbox next to the Template Name dropdown. Whenever you create a new project, the default milestone plan is applied to the project. 


Further, you can delete an existing plan which is not in use by clicking on Delete Milestone Plan. To clone an existing milestone plan in order to create a new plan, click Clone Milestone Plan. You can also modify existing milestone plans which are in-use.
