General


What are the system requirements of Atlas?

Atlas is a web-based product that can be accessed from most browsers including: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer. 


Who is supposed to update the data on Atlas? 

Atlas is an enterprise level application used by the whole organization. Different project team members from various departments will update their own data. Each project consists of the different sections such as sales, legal, tax, design, economics, etc. Each of these sections may be updated by different people within the team. It is up to the organization to decide who the owners of different milestones and tasks are to update the data.


Can I set my own time zone in Atlas?

Yes, after the Atlas admin set the time zone for the whole corporation, you can overwrite the time zone for yourself in your user profile. 


Does Atlas send any notifications to users? 

Yes, Atlas sends email notifications related to cases, team assignments, obligation reminders, etc. You can also choose to be notified via Slack in case you do not want to receive emails.


What level of customer support do you offer? 

We provide email-based ticket support, as well as paid in person or remote training. 



Getting Started


Can I manage the dropdown/lookup lists in various screens?

Yes, as an Atlas admin you can manage all the dropdown/lookup lists via the Lookups Info screen. Go to the Upper Right Menu >Settings >Manage Lookups


How can I delete a project? 

Rather than deleting a project, it is possible to cancel a project. Open your project and go to Project Info > Overview > Sales. In the bottom of the sales tab, you will see the cancel button. Another way to go about it is to open All Projects and right click on the project you want to cancel. Select Task > Project Status > Cancel > Next > Finish.


Can I edit and save a project list created by my colleague? 

You can edit and save a project list (grid) that you created. You can also edit and save a project list that you created as a new grid. However, you cannot edit and save a project list created by your colleague. You can only edit your colleague's project list and save it as a new grid (project list). 


Can I create my own reports without contacting the Atlas support team? 

Yes, you can create any number of custom reports from All Projects without getting in touch with the Atlas support team.


Is there a place I can store details on the module, inverter and structure used in the project?

Yes, in the design section of your project you can add details on modules, inverters, and structures (add module >edit > update > save changes), as well as their count. After adding this information, Atlas will calculate the system size (AC and DC). You can further record storage and energy production details.


Can I mark some financial documents as confidential?

Yes, while uploading a document you can mark the file as confidential and only people with special access privileges will be able to upload or download such documents.


Where can I change my project's system size?

Open your project, look at the project info menu and click on the Design tab. A screen will appear on the right side of your screen, change your projects' system size there.


Can I close all project tabs at once?

Yes, right click on a tab and choose the option close all tabs.


The tabs in Atlas do not close, what shall I do?

The issue stems from the internet browser. Log out of you Atlas account, an log back in again.

Document Repository


Do you have a document repository? 

Yes, Atlas has an inbuilt free document repository with all types of document categories used in the solar industry. 


Is there a size limit for the free document repository? 

As of now, there is no size limit.


Our organization uses Dropbox as document repository, can it be integrated with Atlas

Yes, it is possible to integrate Atlas with document repositories such as Dropbox, SharePoint, Egnyte, OneDrive, Google Drive, and Box. Thus, documents uploaded to Atlas will also be uploaded to, and stored on i.e. Dropbox.

 

Can I modify the list of document categories/types? 

Yes, as an Admin you can manage the list of document categories/ types. Go to the settings menu in the top right corner, select Configure and Document Type.



Uploads


Is there a size limit for uploading individual files?

No, there is no size limit. However, if you upload a very large file, it might take more time to load.


Is there a limit to the number of document versions allowed for upload?

No, there is no limit. Every time you upload a document again to the same document type section without changing the file name, ATLAS will increment the version by 1.



Milestones and Cases

 

Is there a task/workflow assignment feature?

Yes, Atlas offers a workflow assignment feature under Project Management > Milestones. To assign milestones to an owner, the project team needs to be defined first under Project Management > Project Team > Manage Roles. Once a milestone is assigned to an owner, the person is notified by email. The owner has the responsibility to update the start and end dates, the milestone status (=percentage of completion), as well as to upload documents etc. 

 

Besides milestones, there is also the possibility to create and assign cases. Go to All Projects, right click on a project, and create a new case. You can view cases in Reports > All Cases, or Reports > My Cases.


Can I create my own milestone plan?

Yes, as an Atlas Admin, you can create new milestone plans which can be used in any project within the organization.


The milestones screen looks like MS Project, can you import my project plan from MS Project?

No, you cannot import a project plan from MS Project. The typical time to create a totally new milestone template is less than an hour.


Can I upload documents for each milestone?

Yes, you can by clicking on the upload button in the last column of the milestone row. You can update any type of document. In addition, any document uploaded within your project will be stored, and can be reviewed, under Project Management > Documents.

 


Sharing Data


Can I share data and documents with external customers or contractors who do not have an Atlas account?

Yes, you can create a custom report (grid) in Projects by selecting columns and filtering for data points which are relevant to you. After saving your custom report, you can use the Data Sharing feature to share your custom report, including documents. A popup window will open. Enter the email addresses of the external teams and choose whether you want to share the data one time, or on a recurring basis (daily/weekly/monthly).

COGS (Budget)


Can I change the COGS list based on my company's needs? 

Yes, as an Admin you can configure the COGS (Budget) list during the beginning of the account setup. Go to Settings > Configure > COGS List. You can also let us know your requirements and we can set it up for you. 


Can I set my COGS/initial budget as baseline and then perform a comparison analysis?

Yes, you can approve one revision of COGS as baseline in Project Info > Economics > COGS > Approve Baseline. Afterwards you can conduct a variance analysis (current vs. previous revision vs. baseline) in Project Info > Economics > COGS Variance


Can I copy my COGS revision from one project to another project?

Yes, you can clone your COGS revision to other projects in Project Info > Economics > COGS > Clone to Projects. It will clone all the per Watt numbers to another project by creating a new COGS revision in the target project.



Integrations and Customization


Can I integrate my existing accounting system into Atlas? 

Yes, you can integrate your accounting system into Atlas. This integration is completely optional. 

 

Atlas does not replace your accounting system. Instead, we will help you pulling your payments/invoices/POs/journal transactions into each Atlas project. By doing so you will have a good overview and can compare Budget vs Actuals report, as well as view all your project's data, including financials, in a single window in Atlas. 

 

Every organization's accounting system implementation is unique, therefore the integration to Atlas will need some customization work. We will work with your accounting team to customize the integration as per your requirement. There is a onetime cost in addition to the license fee.

 

Our sales team uses Salesforce for lead creation. Is it possible to integrate Salesforce into Atlas?

Yes, it is possible.


What programs are integrated with Atlas? 

Atlas is integrated with a dozen powerful programs for accounting, cloud storage, collaboration tools and more.

Can I get some customization work done on a few screens, and add fields, new screens, or reports, etc.?

Yes, we can do customization as per your requirement. The cost of customization will be in addition to the quarterly license fees. If you start a paid Atlas trial, we recommend you explore Atlas and come back with a list of customizations needed. We can check the features' feasibility and provide you with an estimate of much the customization work would cost.

Is there a free or paid trial of Atlas?
