This help article describes the COGS screens of the Economics Project Info Tab.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

The COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) section presents the current budget for a project, which is an estimate of a given system’s costs. The Atlas Cost Coding structure breaks the COGS down into four levels.

Switch to Previous Revision

In case you want to revert the current revision with the previous one, click on Switch to Previous Revision.

Size Colored in Red

If the size field is colored in red, it means that the size does not match the size mentioned in the design tab. To change it, click on New Revision

Make the correction and tab out, the background color will change to white. This means the size is now matching in the COGS and Design tab. Save the revision.

History of Revisions

Every time you make updates and save the changes, it is stored as a revision. In the revision dropdown you can see the history of all the revisions made.

Inputs

To change the amount, per Watt, or comments of a line item, type directly into the respective cell. If one of your COGS amounts is a fixed amount, which does not change based on the size of a project (such as a fee), you should use the Fixed Cost? checkbox. This way you assure that whenever the size of the project is updated, this (fixed) amount is not auto-recalculated based on the per Watt rate. Check this box after entering the amount or per watt.

Further, you have the option to click the Recalculate button if you have been adding new values and want to update the totals of each COGS level.

Cloning

You have the option to clone a COGS revision from one project to other projects. It will not copy the amount but the per Watt, so based on the size of the target projects, the COGS amounts will be recalculated. Click on Clone to Projects and a popup will appear. Select the target project and press Add. The selected projects will appear in the right window. Click Next.

Select the COGS levels which you want to clone. You can choose to select all, or just a few. Click on Finish to complete the cloning. If you go to the targeted projects you will see that a new COGS revision has been created there.

COGS levels

Under Options you can select the COGS levels to be made visible by selecting those. You can also export data to Excel.

Further, as an Admin you can approve a COGS revision as your baseline revision, or initial budget. Once the baseline was approved, a revision will be stored as the baseline revision in a screen called COGS Variance. There you can compare all the revisions with the approved baseline.

Data Upload

You can also upload COGS data via an Excel template. Click on Data Upload and a popup will appear. Export the data to Excel, and then fill in all the numbers (amount or per W). Once the file is ready, click on Browse.... and select the file that you wish to upload.
